Effects of whole-body γ-irradiation and M40403 on spontaneous blastogenesis of leukocytes in the spleen and blood at 4 days post-irradiation. The counts per minute (cpm) were normalized to 1 x 106 cells. Statistical analyses were performed using one- and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's pairwise multiple comparison test. Each bar represents the mean +/- SEM. a: p<0.01 versus all nonirradiated groups; b: p<0.005 versus all nonirradiated groups; c: p<0.001 versus 3 Gy radiation (0 mg/kg M40403) and radiation + 3 mg/kg M40403; d: p<0.001 versus all nonirradiated groups; e: p<0.01 versus nonirradiated (0mg/kg M40403). Two-way ANOVA: p<0.001 (spleen) and P<0.05 (blood) for main effect of M40403. These findings indicate that M40403 treatment significantly enhanced DNA synthesis in both spleen and blood leukocytes from irradiated mice.
