The peak vasoconstrictions to hepatic nerve stimulation expressed as percent change in hepatic arterial conductance (HAC; note that this is negative, indicating constriction) and resistance (HAR) in one cat. The dynamic parameters of the frequency–response curve are based on nonlinear regression to estimate the maximal response (Rmax) and the nerve frequency required to produce 50% of the Rmax (Hz50). The line is best fit to the rectangular hyperbolic curve for data based on HAC and HAR. The HAC is the appropriate index. Rmax is 96.74 ± 12.13 (12.5%) for %ΔHAC and 610.70 ± 193.30 (31.7%) for %ΔHAR. Hz50 is 2.35 ± 0.93 (39.6%) for %ΔHAC and 7.18 ± 4.87 (67.9%) for %ΔHAR. SE is 0.779 for %ΔHAC and 0.718 for %ΔHAR.
