Summary of Use during Lactation
No information is available on the use of ferric pyrophosphate citrate during breastfeeding and the manufacturer recommends that it not be used during breastfeeding. An alternate intravenous drug with more published data available may be preferred. Holder pasteurization of milk reduces the concentration of iron in milk by about 6.5%.[1]
