Square wave voltage pulses applied to the carbon fiber electrode for chronoamperometric recording of 5-HT. B. Ohmic current recorded in the absence of exogenously applied 5-HT (a) is set as “zero” and the change in current produced by oxidation of 5-HT (b) at the electrode is measured as a function of time. The current produced 20–100 ms after the potential is stepped to 0.55 V and then again after it is stepped back to 0.0 V is digitally integrated.
