Figure 3 shows the steps in the topic nomination development and selection processes. In the top box, the 6 steps of the topic nomination development process are shown in the order in which they are completed: background searching, definition of PICO/scope, search for systematic reviews, existing guidance documentation, feasibility scan for primary research, and completion of topic brief. In the bottom box, the 3 steps of the topic selection process are shown in the order in which they occur: presentation of topic brief at topic triage meeting, topic selection, and results reporting.
