Description

The biobased economy aims to create a circular economy that is environmentally-friendly, economically viable, and socially responsible by transitioning from a fossil fuel-based economy to a sustainable and renewable one based on biomass resources. To achieve this goal, it is essential to develop efficient, robust, and versatile cell factories. In this context, we present the draft genome sequence of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae SpyCas9 expressing strain IMX2600. This strain that is part of the CEN.PK lineage, possesses the necessary characteristics to serve as a platform for developing the yeast cell factories of the future.
