Description: Adult Helicoverpa zea from a laboratory HzStark_Cry1AcR strain maintained at USDA-SRS Southern Insect Management Unit (SIMRU), Stoneville, MS. Initial collection made near the USDA- ARS Genetics and Sustainability Agricultural Research Unit, Starkville, MS, USA in 2011 and selected for survival when exposed to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) Cry1Ac pesticidal protein. HzStark_Cry1AcR was backcrossed every 5 generations to a susceptible line maintained at USDA-ARS SIMRU.
