Photorhabdus luminescens spp. laumondii strain DJC was originally isolated by the group of David J. Clarke (University College Cork, Ireland) by growing cells in the presence of the antibiotic rifampicin. It was described as a spontaneous rifampicin resistant mutant of TT01 [TT01-Rif(R)]. Phenotypic and genomic analysis, however, makes it likely that strain DJC is an independent isolate.
