Description

The strain 9912 was isolated from a sediment sample from the Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Sea and was screened with a strong inhibitory effect on various fungal phytopathogens. Mutant 9912D for industrial production was derived from the wild strain 9912 after series of chemical and physical mutagen treatment. This mutant can easily colonize in plant rhizosphere at high population density. It produce a wealth of bioactive compounds, particularly antimicrobial lipopeptides and show high efficient in preventing airborne and soil-borne diseases of plants. Recently, 9912D as a new biopesticide formulation derived from Bacillus methylotrophicus species was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China.
