Strain 12-2 is a virulent strain of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines isolated from a naturally-infected soybean leaf (cultivar SJ4 or SJ5) in a farmer's field in northern Thailand in 1990 by Sutruedee Prathuangwong. 12-2 is virulent on many soybean cultivars, including Williams-82, Spencer, PI520733 and SJ4/SJ5.
