Description

Nitrosopumilus adriaticus NF5 was isolated from coastal surface water of the northern Adriatic Sea (approx. 0.5 m depth) off the coast of Piran, Slovenia, in November 2011. They can oxidize ammonia into nitrite and fix inorganic carbon via the 3-hydroxypropionate/4-hydroxybutyrate cycle.
