This is a misidentified cell line with no known authentic stock.
This BioSample record was created using the International Cell Line Authentication Committee (ICLAC) Register of Cross-contaminated or Misidentified Cell Lines, version 9.0. See the ICLAC link below for more information. For questions, contact info@iclac.org.

Note: Reviewed by ICLAC (ref: 121113, 150506). STR profiling in Chan et al (2008) demonstrated similarity to HeLa, but at less than 80% match. Strong et al (2014) presented additional data in support of this finding, demonstrating that cells carry HPV-18, as previously demonstrated in HeLa cells. The authors speculate that a fusion event may have occurred between HeLa and an unknown cell line; although not proven, current data are consistent with this hypothesis.
