The Plasmodium vivax genome is comprised of 14 chromosomes with an estimated total size of 30 Mb. The Salvador I strain was selected for sequencing, a strain that was initially isolated from a human infection in El Salvador and has since been passaged through human and monkey subjects. The P. vivax genome was sequenced at The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) using a whole genome shotgun (WGS) strategy to a final sequencing depth of 10X. This sequence data has been deposited in GenBank under accession AAKM00000000, and a annotated and curated copy of this data is available in RefSeq. Less...
