Suppression of the gut microbiome with broad-spectrum antibiotics reverses age-related arterial dysfunction

The purpose of the present study is to gain initial insight into the role of alterations to the gut microbiome in the development of age-related physiological dysfunction in a setting of lifelong Western diet consumption, and to determine whether healthy lifestyle or dietary interventions that improve physiological function may be effective in part due to preservation or improvement in the composition of the gut microbiome.
