Transcriptome profiles of the hypothalamus from the Lushi green-shelled-egg chicken, a relatively low-rate egg producing Chinese indigenous breed, and the Rhode Island Red chicken, a relatively high-rate egg producing breed, both in their peak laying period at 30 weeks old, were obtained by next-generation sequencing.
