The aims of this study are to investigate the diversity of the plant pathogen genus Phytophthora in French Guianan forests, and to investigate an eventual link to tree diversity in this biodiversity hotspots, in order to assess Phytophthora potential role in the maintenance of tree diversity in tropical forests
