More... Arachis hypogaea is an important crop with India and China the leading producers.
Arachis hypogaea is one of two AABB tetraploid species in the
Arachis genus. Most of the other 69 species in
Arachis are diploids. Genetic analysis of tetraploid peanut is hindered by the lack of variation within the species as well as the lack of variation with the diploid donors of the component genomes.
A pair of genomic libraries were prepared; one using PstI and the other using Sau3AI/BamHI. The inserts were subjected to clone end sequencing to generate data for identification of microsatellites that could be useful for mapping.
