Sequencing of a Saccharomyces pastorianus isolate with lowered diacetyl production

Here we investigated the possibility of lowering beer diacetyl levels through evolutionary engineering of lager yeast for altered synthesis of alpha-acetolactate, the precursor of diacetyl. Whole genome sequencing was used to reveal genomic changes in the adapted strain.
