More...Pasteurella multocida a Gram-negative coccobacillus, is an etiologic agent of pasteurellosis. It is well known as a zoonotic agent that can cause lymphadenopathy, bacteremia, and in rare cases can cause endocarditis and osteomyelitis in human populations. There are five serogroups identified (A-F) based on polysaccharide capsule composition. Additionally, there are 16 serovars reported (1-16) based on the lipopolysaccharide. Two cases (five-month old domesticated American bison [Bison bison]) presented at the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory for investigation.
