DBA/2J female, 30-days-old first generation offspring of Jackson Laboratory foundation stock mating pairs bred at UTHSC, whole brain DNA (2008)
Strain DBA/2J (dilute, brown, agouti line 2, Jackson substrain) is one of the oldest inbred strains of mice. Inbreeding was begun in 1909 by Clarence Little. This strain has been used widely in experimental, genetic, and genomic studies. It is one of the two parental strains (with C57BL/6J) of the large panel of 80 BXD recombinant inbred strains.
