The goal of the study was to characterize the chemistry and microbial community of shipboard oily wastewater chronically exposed to petroleum hydrocarbons and further assesse the roles of the indigenous microflora in the biodegradation marine diesel fuels (both petroleum and biofuel) and the corrosion of carbon steel.
