The objective of this study was to determine and compare the structure, diversity and specificity of bacterial communities associated with the three adjoining habitats Lobaria pulmonaria (lung lichen), Pterigynandrum filiforme (moss), and Acer pseudoplatanus (maple tree bark) from a montane forest in the Austrian Alps using Illumina high-throughput sequencing.
