Genome Information for Penicillium chrysogenum
Texas A&M University, in collaboration with
DSM, The Netherlands, constructed a physical map of the
Penicillium chrysogenum Wisconsin 54-1255 genome using a large-insert clones fingerprint-based approach.
Restriction fingerprints from binary bacterial artificial chromosome (BIBAC) libraries have been generated. BIBAC clones were fingerprinted with 23.1X coverage using capillary electrophoresis (CE). A physical map was assembled with 2-3 contigs per chromosome and anchored the map to its chromosomes. The constructed physical map will allow detailed analysis of the Penicillium chrysogenum genome and its function in relation to penicillin production.
