Campylobacter jejuni IA3902 Campylobacter jejuni IA3902 has emerged as the predominant Campylobacter strain associated with sheep abortion in the United States. As determined by pulsed field gel electrophoresis and other typing methods, this strain is distinct from other C. jejuni strains that are not associated with abortion. It is likely that this strain has acquired unique virulence traits, enabling it to cause abortion. The obtained genome sequence will not only facilitate the control of sheep abortion, but also provide a useful platform for the scientific community to understand pathogenic mechanisms of C. jejuni.
