More...Talaromyces marneffei (once named Penicillium marneffei) is well known as a systemic temperature-dependent (growing as a mycelium at 25 °C and as a yeast at 37 °C) dimorphic fungus endemic to Southeast Asia. Systemic mycosis caused by T. marneffei is a common human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)–associated opportunistic infection, ranking the third after tuberculosis and cryptococcal meningitis. And it is also increasingly observed in individuals without HIV infection. Penicilliosis marneffei is a serious threat to human health. However, the whole genome size, number of chromosomes and RNA expression of T. marneffei is unclear. In order to confirm them, here, we employed high-throughput sequencing technologies, using Illumina and PacBio sequencing technologies, combined with whole genome shotgun technology to sequence the whole genome of T. marneffei standard strain, wild strain and clinical isolated strain. And then we compared the differences of genetic informations among three strains.
