We sequenced the musk microbiota of 5 mated male of Chinese forest musk deer by using the 16S rRNA sequencing method on the Illumina Miseq platform and compared it with that of 5 unmated males living in Chongqing Institute of Medicinal Plant Cultivation (Chongqing, China) in early December 2014.
