Bacillus tuticoriensis (tuti.cori.en´sis. N.L. masc. adj. tuticoriensis, pertaining to Tuticorin, a place in the Indian state of Tamilnadu, where more solar saltern pans situated for commercial production of saltt).Cells of SA1-12T are rods, cream colored, motile, produces endospores with central-bulged sporangia. The strain was capable of growing at NaCl concentrations of 2-7% (w/v), with optimum at 5% of NaCl, temp 12°C to 42°C; pH 5.0 to 10.0. The stain is positive for catalase,oxidase, urease, nitrate reduction, hydrolysis of starch, MRVP. Negative for gelatin liquefaction, casein hydrolysis, citrate utilization, and indole production. Positive for acid production from raffinose, sucrose, fructose, mannitol, xylose, arabinose, salicin, galactose, lactose, melibiose, trehalose, mannose and sorbitol. Enzyme activity was checkd using VITEK GP2 cards and was found to be positive for arginine dehydrogenase 1, β-galactosidase, α-glucosidase, β-galactopyranosidase, α-galactosidase, urease, L-lactate alkalization and arginine dihydrolase2. Sensitive to antibiotics: colistin(l10), ciprofloxacin(5), Polymyxin(300), neomycin (30) Nitrofurantoin(300); Vancomycin(300); Bacitracin(10); Gentamicin(120); Rifampicin(5) and Penicillin(10 ). Major polar lipds are phosphatidylglycerol (PG) and diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG). The major fatty acids were found to be iso-C15:0 (14.90%), anteiso-C15:0 (35.93%), iso-C14:0 (14.91) and iso-C16:0 (14.12%), meso-DAP is the diagnostic cell-wall diamino acid and isoprenoid quinone is MK-7. The G+C content is 37.0 mol%. The draft genome of strain SA1-12T consisted of 6,87,9641 bp with 6721 predicted CDSs, 463 sub-systems and 161 RNAs. The final assembly contained 141 contigs of total size 6,87,9641 bp with N50 contig length of 1,74,970 bp and the largest contig assembled measured 5,30,310 bp. Less...
