In this study we explored diversity of V3 region of 16S rRNA genes obtained via barcoded 454 pyrosequencing (of 150 fecal samples collected from rats at the baseline, 10th week, and 18th week of the trial) to demonstrate the modulation of gut microbiota by berberine and metformin during the treatments of high fat diet-induced obesity in rats.
