A draft assembly of the Strigamia maritima genome sequence is expected. This project is part of a sequencing proposal submitted by an international consortium of universities and whose goal is to better understand evolutionary relationships within the Ecdysozoa. This in turn, should improve the understanding of the evolution and function of genes present in other organisms, including humans.
