Culex quinquefasciatus. The genome of Culex quinquefasciatus, Johannesburg strain, has been sequenced jointly by The Broad Institute and The J. Craig Venter Institute, and funded by NIAID. It was completed at the end of June 2006 and a first assembly was produced by The Broad Institute (version CpipJ1 of 3,171 supercontigs) using their whole genome assembly package ARACHNE.
The current version of the whole genome shotgun project (01) has the accession number AAWU01000000. Annotation was added to the scaffolds in February 2008 and updated in June 2008.
