An EST sequencing project for the leipdopteran Spodoptera frugiperda was conducted at Kansas State University. Cell lines from S. frugiperda are routinely used for expression of foreign genes using baculovirus. 2,367 ESTs corresponding to 1,195 unique sequences were generated from two cDNA libraries derived from the cell line SF-21. This information will be useful for characterizing changes in gene expression that occur due to baculovirus infections.
