A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based linkage map for the silkworm Bombyx mori was developed by the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, Japan. Segregation patterns of 1,755 SNPs were assayed in 190 segregants, generating a linkage map spanning 1413 cM in length distributed over the expected 28 linkage groups. The SNPs are derived from BAC end sequences, allowing the SNP markers to be directly linked to whole genome sequence data. The linkage map is available for browsing at KAIKObase.
