S. frugiperda fed with bx3 maize mutant and its control genotype B73 AND fed with bx1 maize mutant and its control genotype H88. The bx1 mutant is derived from the insertion of a Mu element within the Bx1 gene in a H88 genetic background (Hamilton 1964). Similarly, the bx3 mutant was obtained in the genotype B73 by insertion of a Mu element in the Bx3 gene (Frey, Chomet et al. 1997).
