Brassica juncea was developed using PCR-based Intron Polymorphism (IP) markers to study comparative mapping between
B. juncea and
Arabidopsis thaliana and to study segmental structure of the A and B genomes of Brassica. A mapping population consisting of 123 doubled haploid lines derived from a cross between Varuna (an Indian cultivar) and Heera (an east European line) was used for the construction of the linkage map. IP markers were added to previously developed framework maps described in
Pradhan et al., 2003 and
Ramchairy et al., 2007.
