Dicistroviridae

Description of Dicistroviridae

adapted from ICTVdb

Virion Properties

Morphology

Virions consist of a capsid. Virus capsid is not enveloped, round with icosahedral symmetry. The isometric capsid has a diameter of about 30 nm.

Physicochemical and Physical Properties

Virions have a buoyant density in CsCl of 1.35-1.37 g cm-3.

Nucleic Acid

The genome is not segmented and contains a single molecule of linear positive-sense, single-stranded RNA. The genome is infectious. The complete genome is 8500-9500 nucleotides long. The 3'-terminus has a poly (A) tract.

Proteins

Proteins have been identified.

The viral genome encodes structural proteins, or non-structural proteins. Virions consist of 3 structural protein(s) located in the capsid.
