Inoviridae

Description of Inoviridae

adapted from ICTVdb

Virion Properties

Morphology

Virions consist of a capsid. Virus capsid is not enveloped. Capsid/nucleocapsid is elongated and exhibits icosahedral symmetry. Virus preparations contain one particle component. The capsid is rod-shaped, straight to flexuous with a length of 85-280 nm, or 760-1950 nm and a width of 10-16 nm, or 6-8 nm.

Physicochemical and Physical Properties

Virions have a buoyant density in CsCl of 1.3-1.4 g cm-3.

Nucleic Acid

The genome is not segmented and contains a single molecule of circular, positive-sense, single-stranded DNA. The complete genome is 4400-8500 nucleotides long.

Proteins

The viral genome encodes structural proteins and non-structural proteins.

Lipids

Lipids are not reported.
