Haemophilus influenzae PittGG. Strain PittGG is a non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) isolate recovered by Dr. Robert Wadowsky from the external ear discharge of a spontaneously perforated tympanic membrane of a child in Pittsburgh who had been diagnosed with otorrhea. In the chinchilla model, PittGG infection induces acute otitis media (AOM) and causes virulent, uniformly fatal, systemic disease.
