Campylobacter jejuni subsp. jejuni 260.94. This strain is a representative of the Campylobacter strains of the Penner o:41 serotype, which is associated with Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). Isolated from the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, it is linked to the most common type of GBS, acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP). This organism has been shown to express the GM1 ganglioside-like structure, and is a member of the second known overrepresented serotype associated with GBS. Less...
