In order to study the genetic basis for self-compatibility and self-incompatibility in Solanum a genetic map was created using a BC1 population of 395 plants from Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum hirsutum with tomato the recurrent parent. The plants were genotyped with RFLP using random tomato cDNA and random tomato genomic clones.
