The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) in collaboration with the Naval Medical Research Center carried out a research program to sequence the entire genome of the rodent malaria parasite Plasmodium yoelii yoelii. The genome sequencing of the malaria parasites P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. yoelii, P. berghei and P. chabaudi will provide a deeper insight into the evolutionary history of these species.
The Plasmodium yoelii yoelii whole genome shotgun (WGS) project has the project accession AABL00000000. The current version of the project (01) has the accession number AABL01000000, and consists of sequences AABL01000001-AABL01005687. Each accession contains the sequence of a single contig. Contigs larger than 2kb (20 Mb in total) have been annotated, representing approximately 87% of the total genome sequence. This annotation was generated in an automated fashion and should be considered preliminary and subject to revision.
