Genome Information for Oryza latifolia
National Science Foundation has funded the construction of eleven deep coverage, large insert BAC libraries for the ten genomes of Oryza. As part of this project a large insert BAC library has been developed for
O. minuta to 10X coverage.
The Oryza Map Alignment Project (OMAP), aims to end sequence the BAC clones from the genome of O. latifolia. The other species to be sequenced are O. rufipogon, O. punctata, O. officinalis, O. glaberrima, O. australiensis, O. minuta, O. schlechteri, O. ridleyi, O. brachyantha, and O. granulata. Sequences will be aligned to the O. sativa ssp. japonica and indica genomes. It is one of the 11 rice species being used in the OMAP project to study the evolution of genus at the genome level.
