More...In a large-scale comparative genomics analysis of hemiascomycetes yeasts, the
Genolevures Consortium partially sequenced the genomes of 13 yeasts, including that of
Pichia angusta strain CBS 4732. For each species, they prepared a random genomic DNA library containing 3- to 5-kb inserts and performed single-pass sequencing (up to 1 kb) of both ends of the inserts, resulting in random sequence tags (RSTs). The
Genolevures Consortium generated 5,082 RSTs, totaling 4.7 Mb and representing approximately 0.5X genome coverage, for
Pichia angusta. They assembled these sequences into contigs and annotated them based on sequential comparisons to DNA and protein sequences from
Saccharomyces cerevisiae, protein sequences from other completely sequenced organisms, and protein sequences from all other organisms. The
Pichia angusta sequences are available in GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ under the accessions
AL430961 to AL436044.
