The tsetse fly, Glossina morsitans, has been designated a high priority organism for generation of a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library. The tsetse fly genome, with an estimated size of 200 million bases, is slated for future genome sequencing, with the first step being BAC-end sequencing. The BAC library construction phase is currently in production.
