The armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) genome was sequenced to 6x coverage using the Sanger capillary sequencing technology in collaboration with the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The assembly of whole genome shotgun plasmid, Fosmid and ... BAC end sequences was produced by the Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center using the Celera assembler followed by Atlas-Link scaffolding using both regular and degenerate contigs, and Atlas-Gap-Fill for local gap filling. Small and redundant contigs were omitted from the assembly. Funding was provided by the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health (NHGRI).
In June 2022 222 sequences were suppressed because they were found to be contaminants.  more
