The Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Virchow str. SL491 whole genome shotgun (WGS) project has the project accession NZ_ABFH00000000. This version of the project (02) has the accession number NZ_ABFH02000000, and consists of sequences ABFH02000001-ABFH02000003.

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Virchow infections have been reported, in otherwise healthy children, to produce bacteremia, monoarthritis, cholecystitis, and prevertebral abscesses. It is considered to be an invasive serotype in immunocompetent children and to be associated with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. Isolates belonging to this serovar aredistinguished by resistance to quinolone antimicrobials, and are very often multiply resistant. The sequenced strain has been deposited at the Salmonella Genetic Stock Center at the University of Calgary under the care of Dr. K.E. Sanderson. The complete plasmids pSL491_5 and pSL491_3 were deposited in GenBank Accession Numbers CP001148 and CP001149, respectively.
