type strains
Eubacterium rectale was described with type strains ATCC 33656 and VPI 0989. The genome was sequenced from ATCC 33656 (CP001107) but these strains were later lost in both collections. Strain A1-86 = DSM 17629 = NCIMB 14373 was suggested to serve as the neotype strain. The request was denied by the Judicial Commission in Opinion 100. Strain VPI 0990 (=ATCC 33656=CIP 105953) was designated a replacement strain for its co-identical counterpart VPI 0989 (=ATCC 25578).
