Ancyromonas and Planomonas
Sequences from ATCC 50267 have been listed at NCBI under three different names: Ancyromonas sp. ATCC 50267, Apusozoa sp. ATCC 50267 and Ancyromonas sigmoides (but note that not all sequences from Ancyromonas sigmoides are from this strain). Subsequently, the name Planomonas micra has been published (Cavalier-Smith et al. 2008). In 2010, Planomonas has been recognized as a junior synonym of Ancyromonas (Heiss, Walker & Simpson 2008; PMID: 20384907) and consequently Planomonas cephalopora, Planomonas micra, Planomonas howeae and Planomonas limna are transferred to Ancyromonas (Ancyromonas sigmoides, Ancyromonas cephalopora, Ancyromonas melba, Ancyromonas sinistra, Ancyromonas micra, Ancyromonas howeae, and Ancyromonas limna).
