Long chain scorpion toxin, cysteine-stabilized alpha/beta domain
This entry includes long chain scorpion potassium channel toxins and and scorpine-like peptides, which exhibit strong antimicrobial effects as well as cytolytic activity against eukaryotic cells. Thi is the cysteine-stabilized alpha/beta (CS-alpha/beta) domain, which is more closely related to invertebrate defensins, than to the classical scorpion toxins. Its structure shows an alpha-helix along with one beta-sheet stabilized by three disulfide bridges folding into a CS-alpha/beta motif.
