pfam11235: Med25_SD1
Mediator complex subunit 25 synapsin 1
This domain is found in a group of proteins specific to vertebrates that form part of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. It coordinates the transcriptional activation of RAR/RXR (retinoic acid receptor/retinoic X receptor). Human Med25 consists of several domains with different binding properties, the N-terminal VWA domain, a synapsin 1 domain (SD1, this entry), a PTOV(B) or ACID domain, an SD2 domain and a C-terminal NR box-containing domain. The function of the SD domains is unclear.
