Mitochondrial import receptor subunit or translocase
This protein family is very short and is only found in yeasts. Tom5 is one of three very small translocases of the mitochondrial outer membrane. Tom5 links mitochondrial preprotein receptors to the general import pore. Deletion of the C-terminal transmembrane domain of Tom5 interfered with phosphatidylserine (PS) transfer to mitochondria and disrupted mitochondrial function.
